Marilyn Jean (Kramer) O’Neill was born on May 8, 1951, in Graceville, MN, to Michael “Mike” and Marion (Mullin) Kramer. She grew up in the Graceville area attending school and graduating from Graceville High School with the Class of 1969.

After furthering her education in St. Cloud, MN, Marilyn ventured to Minneapolis to pursue her career. It was there that she met the love of her life, Dennis “D.O.” O'Neill. After a dozen roses and some time spent together, Marilyn was smitten. On September 2, 1972, the two were united in marriage at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville. The couple settled in Graceville, where they embarked on a journey together, opening D.O.'s Tavern – a venture that truly reflected their commitment to family and community.

Known for her unwavering work ethic, Marilyn dedicated over two decades to running the tavern, all while raising four children and keeping a home. She later transitioned to a career as a bank teller for 21 years. Marilyn's generous spirit extended beyond her professional pursuits, as she and D.O. actively managed and sponsored numerous softball teams, with Marilyn becoming renowned for her signature B-B-Qs that brought the community together time and time again.

A devoted member of Holy Rosary, Marilyn lent her time to the CCW, embodying the values of faith and compassion in all aspects of her life. Her involvement in the American Legion Auxiliary and dedication to her local bowling team accentuated her commitment to service and camaraderie.

In her leisure time, Marilyn found happiness in going fishing and tending to her vibrant flowers. Her cheerful demeanor and warm smile left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of crossing her path. Her home was always open to friends, family, and strangers alike, a testament to her generous and hospitable nature.

Marilyn's greatest joy in life was her family. She was her children’s steadfast supporter and biggest fan during their school activities when they were younger and in their life pursuits as they got older. Spending time with her cherished grandchildren brought her immense happiness and fulfillment.

Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her husband of 52 years, D.O. of Graceville, MN; daughter, Sara O’Neill (Omar) of Willmar, MN; sons: Matt (Jesse) O’Neill of Becker, MN; Mike (Meghan) O’Neill of Graceville, MN; and AJ (Megan) O’Neill of Graceville, MN; nine grandchildren: Darius (Claire), Bryce, Kellan, Maggie, Sawyer, Nolan, Gemma, Avery, and Gracelyn; sister, Beverly (Jim) Smith; brothers: Ken (Marilyn) Kramer, and Greg (Dawn) Kramer; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Mike and Marion Kramer; and parents-in-law, Eugene and Patty O’Neill.
