Marian was born on March 27, 1931, to parents Anton and Mary (Kelzer) Schmieg in Ortonville, MN. All of Marian’s Sacraments were received at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rosen, MN. Marian went through the 8th grade at the St. Joseph Catholic Church School. At the age of 14, she went to St. Ben’s Girls School of 1 ½ years. Upon of her return to the Rosen area, she worked at the Milbank Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide.
On September 12, 1950, Marian was united in marriage to Frank Weber. They resided three miles west of Rosen on a farm. In October of 1956, Frank, Marian and their three young sons moved to Clinton, MN, to a farm, six miles west of town. They farmed and milked cows. While living near Clinton, three more children were born to this union. Marian also worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Graceville Hospital. She kept very busy with the children, helping with farm work and her job.
In 1986, Frank and Marian retired to Ortonville. For a short while, Marian worked as a CNA at Northridge Residence. Retirement brought Marian more free time for her love of gardening, sewing, and baking. She always had time for her children, grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She was a fabulous BAKER! Her pies, cookies, bars, and cakes were known by neighbors, friends, and relatives. She loved her flower gardens and houseplants, bird feeding, and the outdoors.
Every grandchild has or will receive a crocheted afghan on their high school graduation. Baby blankets were an expected gift for many new moms and their babies in the community. Playing cards was also a favorite, she had a card club and whist was played two to three times a month, Marian’s whist foursome included her daughter, Linda, Adelaide Kirchberg, and Marlys Pillatzke.
Marian remained active at St. John’s Church and was on the Funeral Lunch Committee.
Marian helped anyone who was in need of an extra hand, and time was never an issue for her.
