Marian Cardwell

October 7, 1911 — April 18, 2008

Marian Jane Jones, the daughter of David and Blanch (Kimball) Jones was born October 7, 1911, near Bowbells, North Dakota, where she grew up on a farm. Jane met and was united in marriage to Austin LeRoy Palmer on March 17, 1931, in Hinkley, Minnesota, where they made there home farming. Jane was a homemaker and worked hard at her husband,s side. In 1942 Jane and Austin moved to Beardsley, Minnesota, where they farmed south of Beardsley until the 1944 tornado came through, destroying everything in its path, including their farm. They moved to Beardsley where Jane was employed as a cook at the school, she also worked in produce at Davidson Creamery. Austin died April 6, 1962. Jane was then united in marriage to Albert F. Cardwell on November 10, 1963, and they made their home in Beardsley. Albert helped farm until his death, October 26, 1990.

Jane loved her flowers, gardening, doing cross word and jigsaw puzzles, reading, playing cards, and most of all visiting with family and friends. Many family and friends were blessed with her beautiful afghans and handiwork. She will be missed by all.



She is survived by her 9 children, Donald (Mary) Palmer of Greenwood, WI, Arlys (John) Brown of Coeur d Alene, ID, Hazen "Red" (Marlys) Palmer of Cambridge, MN, Chester (Lucy) Palmer of Rice, MN, Eva Lou "Toddy" Stickland of Watertown, SD, Dean (Carol) Palmer of Barnsville, MN, Patricia (and step son Gary) Cardwell of Clinton, MN, Darryll (Beth) Palmer of Brooklyn Park, MN, Sandra Arndt and special friend Dick Stotesbery of Big Stone City, SD; step-children, Delmer (Betty) Cardwell of Milbank, SD, Elden (Leah) Cardwell

of Desoto, TX, Fay Webster and special friend Jim Voeltz of Clinton, MN, Larry Cardwell of Beardsley, MN, Shirley (Carmen) Steen of Sisseton, SD; 27 grandchildren; 33 step-grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Violet Stuempges; niece, Hazel (Jim) Anderson and family; nephew, David (Cheryl) Jones and family; and cousin, George York.



She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Austin and Albert; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and 1 son-in-law.
