Madonna Schreiner

Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Madonna May Schreiner, age 75, of Milbank, will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2006, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Father Ken Lulf will be the celebrant. Madonna died on Thursday, November 23, 2006, at Park Place in Milbank. Family members are asked to meet in the church chapel by 12:30 p.m. Monday to attend services. The organist will be Nancy Johnson and the soloist will be Deb Rausch. The St. Lawrence Funeral Choir will present special music. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Visitation will continue in the church on Monday one hour before her funeral mass. There will be a scripture service and Rosary at the church at 7:30 p.m. Sunday evening. Honorary pallbearers will be her many friends and the Red Hatters. Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Liza Marie Eekhoff, Laura Mae (Andrew) Rosen, Katie Lynn Eekhoff, Alexandra Kristine Unze, Derrick Thomas Krege, Kayla Jo Eekhoff, Levi Matthew Drube, Amanda Kathleen Unze, Lauren Marie Drube, Coby Donald Krege, Robert Charles Schreiner, Samantha Catherine Schreiner, Morgan Cori Krege, and Nicole Marie Schreiner. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Madonna was born on May 30, 1931, at Sioux Falls, SD, the daughter of George and Mildred (Dietl) Flanery.
She attended grade school at the Cathedral Parochial School and her freshman year of high school at Cathedral High School in Sioux Falls. Madonna graduated from Milbank High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Schreiner on September 3, 1951, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Following marriage, the couple lived in Milbank; Redfield, SD, 1953; Watertown, SD, 1954; Sioux Falls, SD, 1955-57; Aberdeen, SD, 1958-59; Frederick, SD, 1959-60; and had lived in Milbank since 1960. She worked at Milbank Mutual in Milbank for fifteen years, first in the microfilm dept. and later in the mailroom.
Her husband Bob died on December 21, 2000. She continued to live in her home in Milbank before living at Middlebrook Circle for a short time and most recently at Park Place in Milbank.
She was a longtime member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank. Madonna was also a member of the Centennial Study Club and the Queens of the Valley Red Hatters. Madonna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who had a great sense of humor and loved to tell a good joke.
Survivors include her five children: Stephanie Ann Unze and her husband Dennis, Chanhassen, MN; Victoria Susan Eekhoff and her husband Gary, Renville, MN; Sharon Lee Drube and her husband Kurt, Aberdeen, SD; Thomas LeRoy Schreiner and his wife Jeanine, Clover, S.C.; and Carla Jo Krege and her husband Cory, Aberdeen, SD; ten granddaughters; four grandsons; one sister, Lavonne (Bonnie) Adler and her husband Max, Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, John (Jack) Flanery and his wife Verl, Huron, SD, and Richard Flanery and his wife Marcia, Scottsdale, AZ; her six sisters-in-law, Emma Flanery, Rapid City, SD; Pat (Flanery) Olson, Sioux Falls, SD; Faye Lee, Veblen, SD; Darolyn Flanery, Arlington, SD; Shirley Schreiner, Sioux Falls, SD; and Valeria Remund, Mitchell, SD; her brother-in-law, Chad Schreiner, Milbank; and many nieces and nephews.
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, two sisters, and five brothers.
