Lucille Mueller, age 94, of Ortonville, MN passed away Sunday, June 5, 2011, at Northridge Home, in Ortonville.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, June 9, 2011, at 11:00 AM at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville from 5-8 PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, one hour prior to the services.
Rev. Marlene Elmstrom and Rev. Richard Larson will be officiating and burial will be at the Yellow Bank Cemetery out of Odessa, MN. Honorary bearers will be Lucille's 12 grandchildren. Casket bearers will be: Troy Redepenning, Dustin Grages, Jamie Mueller, Travis Mueller, Chad Kashmark, and Cory Mueller. Music will be provided by great-granddaughter, Paige Hanson, vocalist.
Lucille Margaret Mary (Roder) Mueller was born March 25, 1917, in Halbrite, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the daughter of Frank and Petronella Nellie Lizbate (Jurgens) Roder. She was baptized in 1917, at the Catholic Church in Halbrite. She lived on the family farm with her parents and two younger brothers. She attended school in Milbank, SD and completed the eighth grade in 1931, in rural school in Melrose Township, Grant County, SD. She was confirmed at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Milbank.
After completing the eighth grade, Lucille worked on the family farm where she learned to sew. She did house cleaning for her neighbor, Mrs. McCulloch. She also went to the country school near her home to start a fire in the coal wood stove and to get the water supply for the day.
She was united in marriage on January 12, 1938, with Marvin Arthur Gustav Mueller at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Together they farmed southwest of Odessa, MN. They were blessed with seven children. In 1957, Lucille started working on the sweet corn run at the Big Stone Canning Company in SD and later also worked the potato run. She worked there for approximately 26 years. Marvin passed away December 29, 1993. Lucille remained on the farm until 2000, then moved into Ortonville where she has since resided.
Lucille enjoyed embroidery, patching work clothes, poetry, gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed dancing and playing the harmonica.
Lucille Mueller is survived by her children: Jackie (Cliff) Redepenning of Ortonville, MN; Mardonna (Donald) Grages of Paynesville, MN; Dale (Lucia) Mueller of Bethel, MN; Jerry (Debbie) Mueller of Maynard, MN; Randy (Margo) Mueller of Maple Grove, MN; Lonny Mueller of Odessa, MN; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law: Elsie Roder of Montevideo, MN and Beverly Roder of Colorado; two first cousins: Viney (Jurgens) Hicks and Idella (Roder) Ross.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin Mueller; daughter, Diane Lee Mueller; 5 sisters; and 4 brothers.
