Loretta Stern

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 15, at Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville from 5 – 7 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Father Bob Goblirsch will officiate and Pat Kunz will be the organist.

Casket bearers will be Chad Goldsmith, Mason Goldsmith, Dalen Roe, Gene Wendland, David Tonn, and Wade Swezey. Burial is in Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.

Loretta M. Stern was born on November 3, 1918 to Bernard J. and Bertha (Zitur) Inderieden in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Loretta and her family moved to Ortonville in 1930, where she attended and graduated from Ortonville High School in 1936.

On November 8, 1938, Loretta and Ivan Robert Stern were united in marriage in Mankato, Minnesota. To this union three children were born. They made their home in Ortonville. Ivan died in 1999.

Loretta worked as a telephone operator for many years. She also worked for Mayme's Dress Shop and Ivan's Men's Wear. Loretta was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Telephone Pioneers, Ortonville Chamber of Commerce, and St. John's Catholic Church.

Loretta enjoyed baking, especially pies. Her greatest pleasure was the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Loretta passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Northridge Residence in Ortonville, having reached the age of 94.

Cherishing her memory are her children: Diane (Gary) Hiner of St. Paul, MN; Sue Goldsmith of Sioux Falls, SD; and Steve (Joan) Stern of Ortonville, MN; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Helen Thomas of St. Paul, MN.

Loretta is preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; her sister, Alvina Inderieden; and her brothers: Charles Inderieden, Edmund Inderieden, Sylvester Inderieden, George Inderieden, Bernard Inderieden, and John Inderieden.
