Lois Werner

Lois Werner, age 91, of Ortonville, MN, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Northridge Care Center. Services are pending with the Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville.


Funeral service will be 2 P.M, Saturday, February 26, 2011 at St. Johns Catholic Church in Ortonville, MN with Fr. Bob Goblirsch. Visitation is Friday from 6-7 P.M. with a 7 P.M. prayer service. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery in the spring.

Lois Werner the daughter of Egbert and Isabell (Macy) Hall was born July 8, 1919 in Albany, South Dakota. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school.
Lois quit school too take care of her mother, who had cancer, until her death.

Lois was united in marriage to Francis Werner in 1937 and lived in Montana, California, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. They both loved adventure and hard work and both were free spirits. Francis died July 1, 1981.

Lois loved to cook, making crafts, word search, flower gardening, and the Minnesota Twins. She will be missed for all her story telling and cooking techniques, over the years from Montana oil fields to apple fields of Minnesota. Lois was a friendly smile everyday at MacDaddy's Restaurant where she earned a reserved booth for her spirit in the "Twins" community.

Lois passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Northridge Care Center. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by: son, Louis (Mary) Werner of Montrose, MN; daughter, Francis (Dave) Basta of Polson, MT; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and sister, Edna Peschong of Eden Prairie, MN;

She is preceded in death by: parents; husband, Francis; 6 sisters; and 2 brothers.
