Lois Madeline (Frey) Skoog was born on November 30, 1944, in Minneapolis, MN, to Francis and Lela (Plant) Frey. She grew up in the Beardsley area and attended school, graduating from Beardsley High School with the Class of 1962.

On October 1, 1966, Lois was united in marriage with Kenneth Skoog. Together, they made their home in Graceville, MN, and raised three children.

Always a hard worker, Lois took a job at the Beardsley bank and after a few years, worked at the credit union in Graceville. Lois became the bookkeeper at Skoog Oil for about 25 years after Kenneth took over the business. She later became a certified nursing assistant and worked at the Graceville Nursing home for a number of years until her retirement in March of 2020. Lois was known and well-loved at the nursing home by residents, staff, and family members.

Lois was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville and sang at church events for many years. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports and made it a priority to make it to many games and events. Lois was an avid bowler, loved playing cards such as Whist, liked watching The Price is Right and other old gameshows, never turned down the opportunity for a competitive game of Yahtzee, and always tried her luck with a couple of scratch tickets every week. She appreciated chatting with her friends on the phone and took advantage of every chance she had to visit with her girlfriends. Lois had a lovely garden and looked forward to growing her dill and cucumbers to can her infamous dill pickles.

Family was so important to Lois; her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She always had a listening ear and an open lap for them. Lois was a great supporter of her family and her boys fondly remember her fried chicken dinners at horse showing events. She was a great cook and always had a freezer stocked with popsicles for when the grandkids visited.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Skoog of Graceville, MN; daughter, Lisa (Rick) Gilsdorf of Graceville, MN; sons: John (Shelly) Skoog of Greenfield, MN; and Tom (Michelle) Skoog of Rapid City, SD; 11 grandchildren: Ashley (Reed) Lawrence, Kendra Gilsdorf, Cole Gilsdorf, Emily Skoog, Ella Skoog, Grace Skoog, Hope Skoog, Tommy Skoog, Faith Skoog, Nicholas Skoog, and Charity Skoog; sister, Linda (Jim) Stallman; brother, Ray (Pam) Frey; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her father, Francis Frey, mother and stepfather, Lela and Omar Quenemoen; and brother, Eddie Frey.
