Lloyd Lorange

Lloyd Lowell Lorange, the son of Einar and Alma (Remme) Lorange was born April 11, 1920 in Luverne, MN. He grew up in the Luverne area and graduated from Luverne High School in 1939.



Lloyd was a salesman at heart and started his career at J.C. Penney and Montgomery Ward. In 1963 Lloyd moved to Ortonville and joined his brother Arnie in business at Twin Town Furniture. He later worked as a salesman for Belding Lilly, Aero Drapery, and Fabric Masters until his retirement in 1985. Lloyd then started his own business, Lorange Window Covering Service, until his second retirement at age 90.



As a World War II vet he served his country well. Lloyd was drafted for the Army Corp and served from 1942-1945 in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Lloyd was part of a crew aboard a Higgins Landing Craft.



On October 16, 1949 Lloyd was united in marriage to Lois Smith. The couple had met while working together in the J.C. Penney shoe department. They were blessed with three children, Kathy, Karla, and Paul. He dearly loved the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.



Lloyd enjoyed playing cards and had no fear of bidding high. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, especially tending to his roses. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church. He will be remembered for his quick smile, his kindness, and wonderful Norwegian flatbread and lefse. Lloyd loved life, and loved being surrounded by friends and family.



On Friday, June 15th, 2012, Lloyd passed away peacefully at 92 years of age at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by family. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lois of Ortonville; his children: Kathy (John)McCallum of Fergus Falls, MN, Karla (Dan) Beutler of Washburn, ND, and Paul (Connie) Lorange of Otsego, MN; grandchildren: Erin (Josh) Tysver, Rachel (Phillip) Samuelson, Grace McCallum, Jason Beutler, Jamie (Amanda) Beutler, Justin Beutler, Jordan Beutler, Alex Pederson, and Blake Pederson; great-grandchildren: Titus Tysver, Aidan Beutler, and Harper Beutler.



Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents Einar and Alma; step mother Elizabeth Lorange; sisters Eileen Devick, Inez Johnson, Audrey Ahlness; and brother Arnold Lorange.
