Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Lloyd F. "Sonny" Jankord, Jr., age 79, of St. William's Care Center in Milbank will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2006, in St. William's Chapel in Milbank. Father Tom Cool will be the celebrant. Sonny died on Sunday, February 19, 2006, in St. William's Care Center. Visitation will be in the St. William's Care Center lounge on Wednesday from 3-5 p.m. There will also be a wake service in St. William's Chapel at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Visitation will continue in St. William's Chapel Thursday morning one hour before his funeral mass. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the staff and employees of St. William's Care Center. Active pallbearers will be his nephews: Richard, Jeff, Rick, Randy, and Jamie Jankord, and Steven Saufley. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown, SD
Lloyd F. Jankord, Jr., was born on October 10, 1926, in Watertown, SD, the son of Lloyd C. and Helen (Brist) Jankord, Sr.
Sonny had cerebral palsy and lived with his parents in Watertown from birth until 1942; Garden City, SD, 1943-45; Linden Beach on Big Stone Lake, 1945-78; and in Revillo, SD, from 1978 until entering St. William's Care Center following the death of his mother in 1995.
Sonny always had a smile on his face and liked to spend time outdoors.
Survivors include two brothers, Linus Jankord and wife Lucille, Milbank, and Clement Jankord and wife LoBail, Plymouth, MN; two sisters, Geraldine Saufley and husband Stanley, Madison, SD, and Mrs. Janet Fenhaus, Laguna Niguel, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
