Lizzie Hanson

Lizzie Edith Hanson was born on February 7, 1912, in Lac qui Parle County, MN to parents Albert and Lydia (Lueck) Ninneman. She was the third child born in a family of eleven, having two sisters and eight brothers. They were raised on a farm in Yellowbank Township. Lizzie attended country school and completed the eighth grade. She was baptized and raised in the Christian faith. She attended Yellowbank Evangelical United Brethern Church with her family as a child and throughout her adult life. She professed Jesus as her personal Savior and passed her faith onto her daughters.
On October 10, 1937, Lizzie was united in marriage to Clifford Hanson of rural Bellingham. To this union, three daughters were born: Eileen, Virginia, and Carlene. As a couple, Clifford and Lizzie made their home with Clifford’s brother Alton and his wife, Lizzie’s sister, Bertha. Together, they worked on the farm and raised their families.
Lizzie was a very devoted, loving wife and a wonderful mother and friend. She was cheerful, gentle, and kind. As Clifford’s health declined, she became his caretaker and did so faithfully until they moved into the Northridge Residence in the spring of 2006. She always lived her life to the fullest, even during her stay at Northridge.
Lizzie had a competitive spirit and enjoyed playing various games. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.
Lizzie entered her heavenly home peacefully on March 4, 2009, with her family by her side, having achieved the age of 97 years and 25 days.
Lizzie is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Clifford; parents, Lydia and Albert; special sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Alton Hanson; brothers: Walter, George, August, Albert, William, Herbert in infancy, and Carl; one sister Minnie Schellberg; great-grandson Zachary Williams; two sons-in-law: Delmar Thole and Thomas Wittnebel.
Lizzie is survived by her three daughters: Eileen (Dale) Williams, Virginia (Glenn) Kuechenmeister, and Carlene Wittnebel; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nephew, Dean (Beverly) Hanson; nieces: Wanda Koepke and Debbie Steuart, children of Alton and Bertha; one brother Elmer (Sue) Ninneman; sisters-in-law: Joyce Ninneman and Anita (Jerry) Kniefel; as well as many more nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
