Lilah Hoffbeck

Funeral Services for Lilah M. Hoffbeck, age 95, of Ortonville, MN will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 5-7:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM, at the Mundwiler & Larson Funeral Home of Ortonville. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the services. Rev. Dennis O'Neill will officiate and burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Big Stone City, SD.

Lilah Margaret Hoffbeck was born on February 24, 1917 in Roberts County, SD to William Jennings (W.J.) and Margaret (Bear) Smith. She lived on farms during her childhood and attended school through the 11th grade. Lilah married Earl Raymond Hoffbeck on April 5, 1935. They lived in Clinton, Montevideo, Marietta, and then settled back in the Big Stone City, SD/Ortonville, MN area in 1941.

Lilah was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Women's Circle. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. Lilah baked a mean buttermilk chocolate cake and her sweet rolls were the best! She was a farm girl at heart and was caretaker to many animals throughout her lifetime. Lilah was very close to her sisters and made many memories in their company.

Lilah died on January 2, 2013 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, having reached the age of 95 years.

Cherishing her memory are her daughters: Marge Hoberg of Ortonville and De (Dennis) Rudolph of Billings, MT; four grandchildren: Georganna Beavers, Charlene Hynnek, Justen Rudolph, and Joby Rudolph; eleven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl, in 1998; her son-in-law, Ken Hoberg; and her two sisters: Vlasta Thorkelson and Norma Montag Larson.
