Leota Mae (Botker) Moberg was born on July 14, 1926, in Almond Township of Big Stone County, MN, to Elmer and Violet (Johnson) Botker. She was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church. She attended Clinton Public School, graduating Valedictorian of the Class of 1944. Leota attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, for one year then took a job with the office of Price Administration during the recovery from World War II.

On January 1, 1951, Leota was united in marriage to Iver Moberg.  To this union, five children were born:  Kathy, James, Deanna, Gene, and Bruce.  They began their married life living on the Harry Moberg farm before purchasing the Martinson farm 1 ¾ miles east of Clinton.  They built a new home on that farm in 1964.

Leota was always active at Elim Lutheran Church: teaching Sunday School, was the church treasurer for many years, was an active WMF member, was the church organist for a short time, sang in the Elim choir and also participated in Elim Lutheran League. She was a book keeper for Ted Swank's Champlin Station and Midland Cooperative Inc. out of Minneapolis in the LP Department. She later worked for Big Stone County Co-op. Leota enjoyed being a gymnast in her early years and was always an avid sports fan. She truly enjoyed trying to teach her kids and grandkids how to play ball as their all-time pitcher. Leota helped revitalize the Clinton American Legion Baseball program after it had been inactive for a number of years. She hardly ever missed a concert, high school sporting event or town team baseball game in the area and also loved watching the Minnesota Twins - Joe Mauer was her favorite player. Leota also helped the Luther League when her kids were involved and later became part of the Clinton Depot Committee. She and Iver were very active in the Campbell-Williams Legion post and Leota was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 60 years. She loved to participate in the community and enjoyed visiting with friends at these events. She was a great cook and always had something to serve anyone that stopped by to visit. Most of all Leota was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with and caring for all of her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her five children: Kathy Moberg, Jim (Diana) Moberg, Deanna (Kim) Stattelman, Gene (Donna) Moberg, and Bruce (Kristi) Moberg; grandchildren: Matt Moberg, Marshall Moberg, Nicholas (Kari) Stattelman, Leah (Marcus) Hendricks, Gabriel (Ashley Eastman) Moberg, Marcus (Rachel) Moberg, Kendra Moberg, David Moberg, Kayla Moberg, Nate Moberg, and Jessica Moberg; three great-grandchildren: Maci, Brooklyn, and Bennett Hendricks; sister-in-law, Shirl Botker; and many other family members and friends.

Preceding Leota in death are her parents and her husband, Iver in August 2018; three brothers: Norman (Dorothy) Botker, Vernon (Marilyn) Botker, and Donald Botker.
