Lawrence "Larry" Schmitz, age 62, of Graceville, MN, passed away on May 24, 2021, at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 27, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Graceville, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Reverend Donald Main will officiate the service and interment will be in Graceville Consolidated Cemetery. All are welcome to a luncheon following the burial at the Graceville Community Center.

Lawrence Vernon Schmitz was born on May 18, 1959, in Graceville, MN, to Ronald and Arlis (Hoffman) Schmitz. He was baptized into the Catholic faith on May 31, 1959, and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith on May 23, 1976. Larry graduated from Graceville High School in 1978. After graduation, he attended two years of vocational school in Brainerd, MN, for welding.
Larry worked various jobs in several communities including working for his Grandpa Vic at Hoffman Implement, Eastman Sanitation in Beardsley, Fiskar's in Wheaton, and Lorenz Manufacturing of Benson. In 1996/97, he went to work at Superior Industries in Morris, MN, as a welder and worked there for more than 20 years.
In his free time, Larry enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, and hunting. He also liked riding his motorcycle and four-wheeler around. Larry loved to visit with his many friends. He was a joyful volunteer for the Graceville Senior Citizen Center delivering meals-on-wheels to many people in the Graceville area. Everyone he met he greeted with "Hello". He knew everyone and everyone knew Larry.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Arlis Schmitz of Graceville, MN; sister, Jennifer (Larry) Helget of Sleepy Eye, MN; brothers: Brad Schmitz of Graceville, MN; and Gary (Jodi) Schmitz of Monticello, MN; 18 nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Schmitz; infant sister, Carla Schmitz; grandparents: Victor (Harriet) Hoffman; and Verney (Louise) Schmitz; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
