Kathryn "Kathy" Meemken

Kathryn "Kathy" Meemken, age 62, of Browns Valley, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at her home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Graceville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. A private inurnment will be held at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, SD, on Saturday, January 13, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Howard from the Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche.

Kathryn Ann (Shuckhart) Meemken was born on March 3, 1961, in Graceville, MN, to Ralph and Helen (Vanderwal) Shuckhart. When she turned 18, Kathy set out on her own living in Minneapolis, Chokio, and Wheaton. She made her home in several locations including Bowdle, SD, Magnolia, MN, Inwood, IA, Granite Falls, MN, Belle Fourche, SD, and in 2022, she moved to Browns Valley, MN, where she resided until her passing.

In 1985, Kathy was united in marriage with Lawrence Meemken in Ipswich, SD. The two raised three children together.

Having such a big heart and caring for others, Kathy held jobs as a dog groomer, in the foreign exchange program, at Prairie’s Edge Casino, and did senior driving for the state.

Kathy was active in the different communities she lived in and was active in Alcoholics Anonymous, the Mother’s Club at the Magnolia High School, and sang in the church choir. She was raised Catholic and was a member of Christian Life Center in Belle Fourche.

Reading and researching was a great hobby for Kathy. She read books and researched her family tree and enjoyed reading about conspiracy theories about different subjects. Kathy liked playing Chess and many other board games with her family and friends. She also loved traveling, painting, and had an extensive collection of salt and pepper shakers.

Left to cherish Kathy’s memory are her sons: Jonathan (Amanda) Meemken of Larchwood, IA, and their children: Nick, Alex, and Nicky; Michael Meemken of Belle Fourche, SD, and his children: Brayden and Raya; and Shane Meemken of Belle Fourche, SD; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers: Michael Shuckhart of Graceville, MN, and Larry Shuckhart of Spearfish, SD; sister, Julie Shuckhart-Flatness of Coon Rapids, MN; many nieces and nephews; along with Shadow, the cat.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; sister, Debbie Burnes; stepchildren: David Meemken, Theresa Meemken, and Jeff Meemken; and nephew, Jimmie Burnes.
