Memorial services for John "Jack" Lund age 70, of Big Stone City will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Emanuel Lutheran Church with the Reverend James Wiese officiate. Interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date with full military rites. Mr. Lund died on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at his home.
John "Jack" Lund the son of John and Helen (Carroll) Lund Sr. was born on October 16, 1937 in Minneapolis. He graduated from the Central High School in Minneapolis. John enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1957 and was discharged in1963. Mr. Lund was a machinist and worked for Kurt Manufactory. On October 3, 1980 he was united in marriage to Barbara (Schumacher) McCartney in Reno, Nevada. After his retirement, he and Barbara moved back to Big Stone City and lived on her family farm. John loved to bowl and spend time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara of Big Stone City; two daughters, Cerise and her husband David Hahn of Susanville, CA., and Sara and her husband Jeff Soliday of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Kara and Trevor Hahn, William Rottler, and Allyssa Guynes; sister, Margaret Carlson of Minneapolis; brother, Greg Lund of St. Paul; his step-father, Jerry Boggs of Hopkins; his best friend, William Flagg of Blaine; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bette and Victor McFarland of Milbank; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Lund.
