JoAnne Elizabeth Moberg was born January 25, 1942 in Graceville, MN to Frank and Elizabeth (O'Hara) Moberg. She grew up and attended school in Clinton, MN graduating from high school in 1960. Following high school, she attended St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Breckenridge, MN, where she started her career as a Registered Nurse.

JoAnne was united in marriage to John VanLith on June 19, 1965 in Graceville, MN. They made their home near Big Stone City. JoAnne worked at the Graceville Hospital, Whestone Valley Nursing Home, and St. Bernard's Hospital, the latter two both in Milbank. She retired after a 45 year nursing career from Avera Milbank Medical Center in 2010 following her cancer diagnosis. JoAnne and John moved to Milbank in 2006 .

JoAnne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her three grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling. A few trips that she especially enjoyed were a trip to Thailand with Drs. Van and Kay, and Patti Aesoph; and a cruise that she and John took to Alaska and Vancouver with Drs. Van and Kay and Susan Vostad. She was looking forward to spending winters in Arizona when she retired.

JoAnne was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She was active in many community activities including Lakeside Extension Club, Combined Appeal, as well as the Cancer/Heart Board and Visiting Neighbor Board for 35 years. JoAnne was also a longtime Minnesota Twins fan.

JoAnne was always helping someone. Many evenings were spent on the phone answering questions or giving advice. Most knew her from the clinic where she gave a friendly smile, offered a hand to hold during a difficult time, or gave a shot in the arm.

JoAnne passed away on June 13, 2012, having reached the age of 70 years.

JoAnne is survived by her husband, John, of Milbank; two sons: Jim (Joyce) of Fargo, ND, and Pat (Kelley) of Pierre, SD; one daughter, Mary (Mike) Sprecher of Moorhead, MN; three grandchildren: Andy VanLith, Aaron and Sydney Sprecher; her parents, Frank and Elizabeth Moberg of Graceville, MN; three brothers: John (Candy) Moberg of Sauk Center, MN, Bill (late Nita) Moberg of Clinton, MN, and Tom (Sheila) Moberg of Gallatin, TN; many nieces, nephews, and cousins and her loving dog Winston.
