Joan Ronglien, age 95, of Ortonville, MN, passed away December 7, 2022, at Ortonville Area Health Services in Ortonville, MN.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ortonville, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Friday. Fr. Brian Oestreich will celebrate the Mass and a private inurnment will be held at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville.
Joan Threse (Wagner) Ronglien was born on August 1, 1927, in Sioux Falls, SD. She was the daughter of William and Martha (Kanthak) Wagner.
On August 30, 1952, Joan was united in marriage with Robert Earl Ronglien in St. Paul, MN. Together, they were blessed with two children: Mark and Monica. Joan and Robert lived in Bellingham, MN, for a few years while Robert farmed with his father. They later purchased their own farmstead west of Bellingham where they farmed for 41 years.
Joan was a housewife, school bus driver, and worked at the Municipal Liquor Store in Bellingham, MN. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, flowers, golfing and was a wonderful cook. She was a member of the American Legion, the Kitchen Band, and Homemakers Club. Joan loved playing cards with all of her friends.
Left to Cherish her memory are her children: Mark (Arloa) Ronglien of Big Stone City, SD; and Monica (Tim) McCarthy of Edina, MN; grandchildren: Lacy (Nick) Thymian, Danielle (Chris) Cartwright, Blayn (Katie) Ronglien, and Bodie Ronglien; great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Taylor, Nora, Gabrielle, Dominick, Ella, Brielle, Declan, and Johnna.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Robert Ronglien in 1999; and granddaughter, Jessica Ann Nybakke.
The family would like to Thank the wonderful staff at Fairway View for their amazing care. She spent the last year of her life being assisted and loved by this great group! They are thankful for Father Brian’s comforting words during this difficult time and to Marilyn Ketchum for coming every Sunday to bring “Mom” communion.
Memorials in Joan’s name may be made to Big Stone Animal Rescue, Big Stone Healthcare Foundation, or Mound Cemetery.
