Jeannette "Jeannie" Hills

Jeannette "Jeannie" Hills, age 78, of Browns Valley, MN, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at the Browns Valley Care Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church with a prayer vigil and reciting of the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday. Fr. John Paul Knopik will celebrate the Mass and interment will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Browns Valley, MN, at a later date.

Jeannette Carol (Reed) Hills was born on June 3, 1944, in Browns Valley, MN, to Ernest and Anna (Leavitt) Reed. She grew up in Browns Valley and attended school there.

On February 11, 1961, Jeannie was united in marriage with Robert Hills from Beardsley, MN. Together, they were blessed with two children: Kerri and Robbie.

Jeannie attended school in her later years to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Graceville, Clinton, and Ortonville nursing homes.

Jeannie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Beardsley, MN, for several years until it closed and she became a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed oil painting, giving many of the works she had done to others. Jeannie loved gardening and tending to her flower beds all Summer. She liked baking and especially loved to bake homemade caramel rolls for her family and friends. Jeannie also loved visiting with her neighbors, family, and friends.

Surviving Jeannie are her children: Kerri (Tom) Herberg of Beardsley, MN; and Robbie (Crystal) Hills of Beardsley, MN; grandchildren: Melissa (Eric) Christianson of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Ann (Brady) Karsky of Moorhead, MN; great-grandchildren: Sophia, Parker, Caleb, and Dawson; sisters: Kathy Reed of Browns Valley, MN; and Donna (Jack) Lamers of Browns Valley, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Ernest and Anna Reed; parents-in-law, Ora and Hazel Hills; her grandparents; sisters: Helen Raw, Bev Raw, Dorothy Sykora, and Mary Williams; and brothers: Dave Reed and Sonny Reed.
