Jay Jefffry Goehring was born on October 10, 1957, in St. Cloud, MN, to parents, John and Lenore (Bakken) Goehring. Being the fifth child in a family of six, he was welcomed home by his brothers and sisters.
As a young boy, the family moved to Illinois where Jay attended school. While attending school Jay excelled in many different sports especially, basketball, baseball, and football. In 1976, Jay graduated from Kaneland High School in Maple Park, Il. Following his graduation, Jay continued on with his education, obtaining his license as a LPN. Jay worked as a LPN in Kentucky for a number of years before moving to Flandreau, SD, where he was currently employed by the Flandreau Nursing Home.
On August 13, 2005, Jay was married to Kimberly Schley, in Flandreau, SD. Jay treasured memories made while hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed duck hunting and looked forward to the fall of every year and the beginning of another duck season. He was an avid outdoors man and cherished time spent with family and friends fishing on all the area lakes. Jay loved his family and the nursing home residents that he cared for also held a special place in his heart. His kindness and enthusiasm for life and the outdoors will be truly missed by all those that loved him.
Jay passed away Friday, March 23, 2007, in Flandreau, SD, as result of a motor vehicle accident, reaching the age of 49 years. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and a niece, Stephanie (Pierce) Metz of Browns Valley, MN
Jay is survived by his wife, Kim Goehring of Flandreau, SD; step-children, Joshua Schley and Jessica Schley of Flandreau, SD; parents, John & Lenore Goehring of Browns Valley, MN; brothers, Mark (Candi) Goehring of Browns Valley, MN; Jack (Sue) Goehring of Browns Valley, MN; sisters, Stephanie (Ken) Warren of Browns Valley, MN; Debbie (Gene) Pierce of Browns Valley, MN; and DeDe (Mark) Neely of Sugar Grove, IL; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.
