Janet Weeding

Janet Kay (Homrighausen) Weeding was born December 18th, 1941, daughter of Frank and Wanda (Paffrath) Homrighausen in Graceville, Minnesota. She attended school in Clinton, Minnesota, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1959. Following graduation she then lived and worked in the Twin Cities for a short period of time. Upon returning to the Ortonville Area she worked for the Ortonville Independent.
Janet married Eugene Weeding on January 9th, 1965, at the Clinton United Methodist Church. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville for many years, where she also served as church secretary. She also worked at Dr. Stewarts's Chiropractic office and the City Clerk's office before beginning her career at the Ortonville Public School in 1980. She was Payroll Clerk for many years before finishing her career as secretary for the Student Family Support Services, from which she retired in January of 2004.
Janet enjoyed gardening and spent much of her free time tending to her beautiful flowers. She always had a strong desire to be surrounded by nature. She also had a wonderful talent of making video slideshows and could often lose hours in her computer room working on pictures. Making soy candles was another past time that she enjoyed.
Janet passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at the Ortonville Hospital in Ortonville, MN, surrounded by family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Wanda Homrighausen; one nephew, Chad Sparby; and a sister-in-law, Florine Homrighausen.
Janet is survived by her husband, Eugene Weeding of Ortonville, MN; children, Vicki (Dan) Oakes of Ortonville, MN; Troy Weeding of Fridley, MN; Heidi Weeding of Fargo, ND; and Stacy (Isaiah) Longnecker of St. Paul, MN; two brothers, Gary (Marlys) Homrighausen and David (Jerolyn) Homrighausen, both of Ortonville, MN; one sister, Colette Sparby of Gillette, WY; and two grandchildren, Trenton Oakes and Owen Longnecker, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
