Graveside services for longtime Sioux Falls, SD, resident, Mrs. Jane E. Dempster, age 88, will be held later this spring in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Jane died on Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. There will be no visitation.
Jane was born on November 1, 1920, in Sioux Falls, the daughter of Lloyd H. and Lila (Marvin) Wagner. She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1937. In 1938 Jane was united in marriage to John Eddington Dempster at the First Congregational Church in Sioux Falls. To this union one son Tom was born. Following the death of her husband and son, she continued to live in her Sioux Falls home until entering the Good Samaritan Society-Luther Manor in Sioux Falls.
Survivors include her sister, Joan Risty and husband Roger, of Cannon Falls, MN; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Hayden and husband Robert, Asheville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews including Cynthia Jane Risty, Onalaska, WI; Douglas Risty, Cannon Falls, MN; and the Reverend Nancy Risty, Milford, MA; Betsy Koch, Sioux Falls; Nancy Patterson, Milbank, SD; John Emanuel, Littleton, CO; Jim Emanuel, Valley Center, CA, Tom Emanuel, Grand Junction, CO; and Martha O'Neill, The Hamptons, Long Island, NY; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son.
