James Webber

March 22, 1924 — February 7, 2007

James "Jimmy" Webber was born on March 22, 1924 in Greenbush, MN. Early on, Jimmy and his mother, Sarah Webber, moved to Big Stone County where they lived for several years. Later in his life, Jimmy moved to Faribault, then to the Twin Cities where he lived first at Portland Residence and then at Pillsbury Board & Care. While in the Twin Cities, Jimmy enjoyed working as a laborer in many different ways. At one time he was well known in the Dinkytown area as the "Newspaper Guy" and "Gopher Jim".

In his free time, Jimmy had many interests that he loved. Being an avid and sometimes a very boisterous Twins and Vikings fan he rarely missed watching a game. He also loved listening to all kinds of music and dancing, especially polkas and the waltz. One of his favorite musical memories was meeting the musical group DEVO. Jimmy was always quite a charming character and his wonderful sense of humor could always be counted upon. Jimmy was a man who was loyal to his routines and did not like having them changed. He was never afraid to let his wants, likes, or dislikes be well known.

Throughout most of his life, Jimmy was not known as a religious man. As he aged, this became more important to him. He would have his little spot in the rear at Worship services at Grace Home. In the last few weeks of his earthly life, he sought the assurances of eternal life. Jimmy expressed his faith in Jesus Christ and not knowing if he had ever been baptized as an infant, he requested to be baptized. He was baptized on Saturday, January 20, 2007.

Jimmy passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at the Grace Home in Graceville, MN. He is preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Webber; uncle, Matt Webber; and aunt, Agnes Webber. Jimmy is survived by all his friends and "family" of residents and staff of Grace Home.
