Jim was born January 8, 1949, in Appleton, MN, to parents Alvin L. and Helen (Bonk) Johnson. He graduated from Ortonville High School in 1967 and from Moorhead State University in 1971. Jim moved to Sheridan, Wyoming and worked in retail from 1971 to 1975. He then moved back to Minneapolis, MN and went to work for GMAC; transferring to Evansville, IN, in 1984. In November of 2004, Jim retired from GMAC and moved back to Ortonville. The last three years of his life were spent enjoying time with his family, fishing and golfing...his three favorite things.
James K. Johnson passed away on January 6, 2008, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Al Johnson, Sr., and three infant siblings, Judy, Ronald and Robert.
Happy to have shared his life and so thankful for the last three years, are his mother, Helen Johnson; brother, Al (Lynda) Johnson, Jr.; sister Rita (Richard) Verheul, all of Ortonville and sisters, Karen (Greg) Saeger and Peggy (Walt) Freiberg, all of Sioux Falls, SD. Jim is also survived by his niece, Noelle Saeger and nephews Nate (Amanda) Saeger, Matt (Taylor) Verheul, Ben Johnson and Tony (Tina) Johnson, who loved their "Uncle Jimmie" so much, along with special little great nephews Evan and Dylan Saeger, and Matthew Plumley.
A memorial service and celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, January 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville, MN.
