Irene Reyelts

Funeral services for Irene M. Reyelts, age 72, of rural Wilmot, SD, will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank. Irene died on Saturday, July 18, at her farm home. The Reverend Timothy Daene will officiate. The organist will be Carol Ydstie. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. and in the funeral home Wednesday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Scott Steinlicht, Terry Reyelts, Cody Husmann. Jeremy Reyelts, Toby Reyelts, Christopher Reyelts, Mitch Torgerson, and Tyler Reyelts. Burial will be in the Osceola #2 Cemetery at Marvin, SD.

Irene was born on June 26, 1937, in Milbank, SD, to William and Minnie (Spahr) Gertsema. She attended school at Osceola #1 country school, Grant County Public Schools. She lived in Marvin with her family.

She married Orville Reyelts on November 25, 1951, in Milbank. Following marriage, they lived on a farm in rural Wilmot from 1951-1975. They have lived on their present farm since 1975.

Irene was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in West Point, NE. Her life was centered on Jesus Christ as her Savior.

Irene especially loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed attending their school and other social activities, gardening, antiques, and restoring old furniture.

Survivors include her husband Orville, rural Wilmot, SD; two daughters, Linda Steinlicht and husband Nick, and Mary Tempel and husband Russell, of Wilmot, SD; five sons, Rodney Reyelts and wife Dee Dee, of Milbank; Alan Reyelts, Wilmot, and Cheryl Reyelts, Sisseton, SD; Roger Reyelts and wife Dorothy, Marietta, GA; Daniel Reyelts and wife Kang Ae, Bennington, NE; and Edward Reyelts and wife Marcie, Paola, KS; daughter-in-law, Lori Reyelts, rural Wilmot, SD; thirty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Marion Scheff and husband Chuck, and Diane Barnes and husband Jack, of Milbank; sister-in-law, Eva Gertsema, Watertown, SD, and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, son Calvin, granddaughter, Melanie Reyelts, and two brothers, Larry and Donald Gertsema.
