Inga Koeckeritz

Inga Koeckeritz, age 88, died on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at Fairview Northland Medical Center, Princeton, MN, surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN, with Pastor Thaine Kister officiating.  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mundwiler and Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Walter Township near Bellingham, MN.

Inga Louise Anna Koeckeritz was born on May 8, 1930, to Gustav A. Boehnke and Marie Carolyn Hildebrandt in Bellingham, MN. She graduated from high school in 1948 and went on to become a nurse’s assistant. Inga was married to Elton Elmer Steen from April of 1953 until October 3, 1960, when he passed. Later, Inga met Clarence William Koeckeritz.  They were married on June 11, 1966, and were together until his passing on October 11, 2002.

Inga lived in several places doing what she loved - being a nursing assistant, waitress, and a home health care aid.  Places she lived were: Bellingham, MN, where she grew up; Ortonville, MN; St. Paul, MN; Willmar, MN; Zimmerman, MN; and Elk River, MN. Inga was a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. She was active in 4-H and the Ladies Aid. She loved to be with people. Inga enjoyed helping others in any way she could which included being involved with many of the church activities and assisting where needed. Inga liked to stay busy tending to her garden, cross stitching, embroidering, and making her famous donuts!

Cherishing Inga’s memory are her children: Jeffrey (Wendy) Steen of Valencia, Spain; John (Debbie) Steen of Altoona, IA; James (Brenda) Steen of Hanover, MN; Julie (Ralph) Braun of Zimmerman, MN; Jerald “Jerry” (Carmen) Steen of Sioux Falls, SD; and Mary (Steve) Stadler of St. Anthony, MN; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rhoda Bork of Bloomington, MN; and Jeanette (Gene) Johnson of East Grand Forks, MN; sisters-in-law: Clara Lotthammer, Joan Boehnke, Helen Yerigan, Alice Bakke, and Elaine Creitz; brother-in-law, Roger Steen; along many nieces and nephews, other extended family, and dear friends.

Inga was preceded in death by her husbands: Elton Steen and Clarence Koeckeritz; parents: Gustav and Marie Boehnke; brothers: Norman, Kenneth, and Gustav; sister, Maryann Ankele; two great-grandchildren; and beloved in-laws, extended family, and friends.
