Inez Larson

Inez Larson, age 94, of Ortonville, passed away on March 12, 2013, at the Ortonville Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, beginning at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, March 15, from 5 – 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Reverend John Ragan will officiate and the organist will be Tonya Barnhardt. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery.

Inez Mae Larson was born to John F. and Anna May (Jacobson) Stielow on January 19, 1919 in her parent's home in Prior Township in Big Stone County. She graduated from Clinton High School and attended one year of Teachers Training in Ortonville. She taught in District 21 for while.

On December 24, 1938, Inez and Arloe Larson were united in marriage. After marriage, she and Arloe lived their entire lives in the same home, farming the land and raising their family.

Inez was involved in many activities. She was a 4-H Leader, Big Stone County Extension President, a Master Gardener, and served on the board of Big Stone County Historical Society. Inez was also involved at Zion Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, participated in Ladies Aid, and served at church suppers. She enjoyed traveling, seeing many of our national parks, going to Germany, and for her 80th birthday visiting our nation's capital – Washington, DC. Her hobbies included crafts, sewing, painting, and playing bingo.

Inez was very proud of having three God daughters, Kathy (Arndt) Ristau, Becky (Stielow) Redford and Marcella (Larson) Rose.

Cherishing her memory are her daughters: Arlene (Eldon) Wagner of Mesa, AZ; Anna Marie Larson of Ortonville, MN; and Ruth Ann (John) Nilson of Hillsboro, MO; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; her brothers: Richard "Dick" (Alice) Stielow of Clinton, MN, and Marvin Stielow of Hawthorne, CA; her sisters: Pearl Mosen of Bellingham, WA, and Vivian Arndt of Minneapolis, MN; her brothers-in-law: John (Arlene) Larson of Ortonville, MN; Ed Kiernat of Ortonville, MN; and her sister-in-law, Betty Stielow of Graceville, MN.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arloe; her granddaughter, Marles Jane Nilson; her great-great grandchild, Erin Hanson; and her brother, John "Jack" Stielow.
