Inez was born on November 30, 1906, at Strandburg, SD, the daughter of Ivan and Lydia (Dahlberg) Lundquist. She attended Troy District No. 3 country school through the eighth grade. Inez was united in marriage to Theodore O. Johnson on December 30, 1933, at her parent's home in Strandburg. Following marriage, the couple resided in rural Deuel and Grant Counties. Inez was a cook at the Strandburg School. She was a homemaker as well as the bookkeeper for the Farmers and Builders Supply Company that she and her husband Ted owned and operated in Strandburg. They moved to Strandburg in 1952. Her husband Ted died in April 1984. She moved to an apartment in Stockholm in 1997. On March 20, 2001, Inez moved to Park Place in Milbank and later to Beverly Healthcare.
She was a lifelong member of the Tabor Lutheran Church in Strandburg. She and her husband were Luther League counselors for many years. Inez also served as financial secretary for many years as well as being active in many musical groups and other church activities.
Survivors include her two daughters, Marion Sansted and her husband LaVerne, Fargo, N.D., and Kathryn Hanson and her husband Reverend Paul, Billings, MT; her daughter-in-law, Carol Solberg and her husband David, Minnetrista, MN; seven grandchildren: Dan, Karen, Ann, Doug, Rick, David, and Nancy; eleven great grandchildren; her sister, Effie Anderson, Watertown, SD; her three sisters-in-law, Pearl Lundquist, Strandburg, Lillian Madsen, St. Louis Park, MN, and Lucille Hoffman, Edina, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
Inez was preceded in death by her parents; husband Theodore; one son, Harold; one granddaughter, Diane Sansted; three great grandchildren, Rune David Thorson, Andrew Johnson, and Christina Johnson; three sisters, Alice Lundquist (died as a young child), Sarah (Sally) Williams and Edna Lisantti; and three brothers, William, Sidney, and Ivy Lundquist.
