Funeral Services for Idella Roder Ross will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Ortonville. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Larson Funeral Home in Ortonville. Pastor John Ragan will be officiating and special music will be provided by Linda Krogsrud. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers are her gradchildren: Kari (David) Bentrup, Dr. Tracy Grossman, John (Natalie) Ross, Bryan Ross; great-granddaughter Alison Bentrup and the Oldies But Goodies Cancer Group.
Pallbearers for the service will be Randy McEwen, Greg Thompson, Rick Roder, Kenneth Lee, Kyle Wall, Chuck Thompson and Mark Thompson.
Idella Roder Ross, daughter of Charles August Roder and Edna Augusta Sackreiter, was born on August 31, 1928. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Idella graduated in 1946 from Ortonville High School and then attended business school in Minneapolis, MN.
She was married to John DeWayne Ross on May 29, 1948. To this union, two children were born: a daughter Char and son Dave. She was employed as the accountant for the Big Stone County Highway Department for 23 years.
She enjoyed gardening, embroidering dish towels, and her greatest blessing was her family; especially her beloved great-granddaugher Ali. Idella was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Ortonville.
Idella passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville. She had lived to reach the age of 82 years, 10 months and 9 days.
Idella is survived by her daughter Charleen (Rod) Grossman of Ortonville; son David (Jackie) Ross of Ft. Collins, Colorado; four grandchildren Kari (David) Bentrup of Alexandria, MN, John (Natalie) Ross of Willington, CO, Dr. Tracy Grossman of Madison, SD and Bryan Ross of Ft. Collins, CO; one great-granddaughter Alison Kay Bentrup of Alexandria, MN; brother-in-law Robert Thompson of Ortonville, MN, sisters-in-law: Barb Roder of Olympia, WA, Andrena McEwen of Ortonville, MN and Lola Schlueter of Ortonville, MN; and many nieces, nephews and good friends.
Idella is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Dale and Donald Roder; sister Donna Thompson; brothers-in-law: Orville McEwen, Wayne McEwen and Oscar Schlueter; sisters-in-law Stella McEwen and Marion Roder.
