Obituary for Helen M. Upton
Funeral services for Helen Upton of Alexandria and Ortonville will be held Friday, August 1, 2008 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Ortonville, MN. Pastor Darrell Boe will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2008 beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery in Ortonville. Pallbearers will be Matthew Pitney, Samantha Pitney, Ryan Bolsta, and Robert Peter, Mark Fuller and Terry Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kyle Loraff, Melissa Bolsta, Wendy Loraff, Sarah Bolsta, Grant Bolsta, Emily Bolsta, Judy Peter, and Paula Bailey.
Helen M. Studebaker was born April 15, 1932 in Edgley, North Dakota. She graduated from Edgley High School in 1950, and moved to Ortonville. After moving to Ortonville, she met and married her husband Charles in 1951. From this union, they had four children; Cherrie, Glenn, Gordon, and Grant. Helen held numerous jobs in Ortonville, but she would be most known for being a telephone operator. Charles passed away in 1981, after a 30 year marriage.
Helen married Daryl Peters and shared nine short months together before he passed away. Helen had a love for puzzles books, especially crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed crocheting and was an avid watcher of All My Children.
Helen purchased a lake home in Alexandria and had enjoyed the last 25 years there. She was united in Marriage to Hillard “Uppie” Upton; they enjoyed their “retirement years” spending the summers in Alexandria and the winters in Arizona. Helen continued to spend time in Alexandria and Ortonville after Uppie’s passing after 21 years of marriage.
Helen is survived by her children: Cherrie (Duane) Wozniak, Glenn (Terri) Bolsta, Gordon (Patty) Bolsta; stepchildren, Bud (Sue) Upton and Mike (Pam) Upton; grandchildren: Kyle (Wendy), Melissa, Matthew (Penny), Samantha, Sarah, Ryan (Katie), Grant, Emily, Jennifer (Mike), and Jacqueline (Mike); great-grandchildren: Dylan, Colby, Logan, Kylie, Alyauna, and Rianna; Step Grandchildren and Step Great- Grandchildren; sister Audrey (Roger) Dahlman; “The Girls” special friends, Judy and Paula; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Charles Bolsta, Daryl Peters, and Hillard “Uppie” Upton; son, Grant Bolsta; and special friends Joni, JoAnn and Bob.
