Glenda A. Carlson, age 87, of Milbank, and formerly of Chicago, Ill. and Watertown, SD, died on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at St. William's Care Center in Milbank. There will be no visitation and no services. Her cremated remains will be buried in the Evergreen Cemetery at Barrington, Ill., at a later time.
Glenda Alberta Carlson was born on December 8, 1918, in Essex, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas F. and Alice M. (McGeehee) Gray. She graduated from Hyde Park High School in Chicago and attended Beverly Business College for two years. Glenda was united in marriage to Stanley Carlson on January 6, 1937, in Chicago. Following marriage, the couple resided in Chicago. She was a director of volunteer services in several hospitals in the Chicago area for fifteen years. They moved to Benet Place Apartments in Watertown, SD, in 1995. Her husband Stanley died on May 20, 1995. Glenda entered St. William's Care Center on June 1, 2005.
She enjoyed singing, cooking, reading, sewing, and spiritual activities.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Ronald S. Carlson, D.D.S., and his wife, Melissa, Honolulu, Hawaii; one daughter, Glenda C. Carlson, Angela Hall, Milbank; and two grandchildren, Cynthia Carlson and Geoff Carlson, both of Minneapolis, MN.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and five siblings, Harry, Lucas, Ruth, Terrell, and Veda.
