Glen Harvey Ketchum was born August 19, 1935 in Tenstrike, MN to Murton and Ruth (Hunt) Ketchum . He attended country school for two years then moved with his family to Baudette, MN, finishing grade school and completing education through the tenth grade.
In April of 1955 he moved to Long View, Washington. There he worked for Long View Fiber. In 1958 Glen entered the Army. He was stationed in Germany and served in the medical corps. On August 16, 1958, Glen married Roberta Karen Hanson. While still stationed in Germany his daughter Denise was born February 3, 1960. Glen was honorably discharged that same year. Glen worked at the creamery in Baudette after his military service. Moving to Ortonville in 1962 and working at the Big Stone Canning Factory for six years. Glen's son Jeff was born in Ortonville March 24, 1966. Glen bought and ran the Poplar Motel in Ortonville for ten years. In 1978, Glen went to work at the Big Stone Cheese Factory - retiring in November of 2002. Sadly, after losing her battle with cancer, Roberta died on June 24, 1991. Glen was blessed to find love again and married Marilyn Roggenbuck on October 24, 1992, at St. Joseph's Church in Rosen, MN.
Glen was a member of St. John's Catholic Church where he ushered and served on the Social Concerns Committee.
Glen will be missed dearly by his family, friends and especially by his grandchildren. He loved to play cards and ball with them.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Ortonville; daughter Denise Dew of Big Stone City, S.D; son, Jeff of Glencoe, MN; grandchildren, Chris Brehmer of Milbank, SD, Julia Dew of Watertown, SD; step-children, Beth Roggenbuck (Thomas) Tipton of Hewitt, TX, Myra Roggenbuck (Jay) Mielitz of Big Stone City, SD, Aaron (Amy) Roggenbuck of Bellingham, MN, and Janel Roggenbuck of Moorhead, MN; step-grandchildren, Terra, Tyler and Isaac Tipton, Ryan, Kayla, Jessica, Tiffany and Caryssa Mielitz, Conner, Corey, and Austin Roggenbuck; one brother, Murton Ketchum from Long View, WA.; two sisters, Della Marquette of Bemidji, MN, Katherine (Norm) Kruckow of Minneapolis, MN. Glen is preceded in death by his parents; wife Roberta; and brother, Curtis (Cork).
