Funeral services for Gilbert "Gib" Buttke, age 87, of Corona, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 27th, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. Reverend Glenn Schultz will officiate. The organist will be Corrine D. Hanson. Mr. Buttke died on Tuesday, Aug. 24th, at the Golden Living Center in Milbank.
Family members are asked to meet in the church annex by 10:00 a.m. Friday to attend services. Visitation will be at the Emanuel-Patterson Funeral Home in Milbank on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and will continue in the church on Friday one hour before services. Pallbearers will be Neil Weeg, Lee Schwagel, Patrick Buttke, Richard Buttke, Jr., Darwin Thiele, and Keith Porter. Burial will be in the Kilborn Lutheran Cemetery, rural Corona.
Gilbert was born on November 4, 1922, in Roberts County, SD, to William and Erna (Seehafer) Buttke.
He graduated from Corona High School.
He married Willa Ann Vchulke on April 20th, 1952, in Corona. On October 27th, 1979, Gilbert married Grace Janssen in Watertown, SD.
He farmed all of his life.
Gilbert was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Corona. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pool and darts.
Survivors include his wife, Grace, of Corona; three sons: William Buttke, Milbank; Thomas Buttke, Wheaton, MN, and Roger Buttke, Corona, SD; two stepsons, Rick Janssen, Madison, SD, and Randy Janssen and wife, Paula, of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and one brother, Leonard Buttke, of Corona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, one great grandson, Lynx Gross, and one sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Orville Bronson.
