Germaine Rieck

Germaine Genevieve Rieck was born on October 27, 1918, in Sisseton, SD, to parents Alice (Larson) and John Nebben. She was baptized on December 5, 1918 at the Peever Lutheran Church and later confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Beardsley. Germaine grew up and attended then later graduated from Peever High School. Germaine married William Rieck on June 15, 1938 in Sisseton, SD. After their marriage, William and Germaine resided in Peever. The couple moved to Beardsley and farmed in the area until 1981. During this time, Germaine worked as a housewife and mother, raising her son Harlan.
Germaine loved visiting with her family and friends, and she especially loved and enjoyed her son, grandchildren and adored her great-grandson. She also enjoyed playing cards.
Germaine passed away peacefully on March 26, 2008 at Graceville, MN, reaching the age of 89. She will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved her.
Germaine is survived by one son, Harlan (Arlyce) Rieck of Cologne, MN; two grandchildren, Jeff (Jackie) Rieck and Holly (Jeff) Schwendinger; one great-grandson, Colton Rieck, all of Cologne, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; and her brother, Marvin.
