Gerald Leo Christensen

Gerald “Jerry” Christensen, of Marvin, SD, passed away on November 9, 2022, at Wilmot Care Center.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Mundwiler Funeral Home in Milbank. Levi Waddell will officiate. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Honorary bearers will be Jerry’s grandchildren: Eric Douglas, Travis Douglas, Dustin Douglas, Brittany Hoff, and Courtney Christensen. 

Burial will be at a later date.

Gerald Leo Christensen was born on February 19, 1934, in Sisseton, SD. He was the son of Elmer and Hazel (Hollen) Christensen. Jerry grew up in the Marvin, SD, area. He attended school through the eighth grade. He was united in marriage with Arlis Jean Cardwell on November 6, 1953, in Summit, SD.

Jerry and Arlis lived near Marvin and farmed. Jerry was a cattle and buffalo owner and buyer. They eventually purchased the farm where Jerry was raised. He also worked for 25 years at Sisseton Livestock.

Jerry was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Marvin. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. He liked raising cattle, buffalo, and horses. Most importantly, Jerry adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arlis of Wilmot, SD; daughter, Carolyn Douglas of St. Cloud, MN; brother, Dale (Diane) Christensen of Watertown, SD; sisters-in-law, Ardelle Christensen of Owatonna, MN; and Kim Christensen of Watertown, SD; brother-in-law: Robert Green of Sioux Falls, SD; five grandchildren: Eric Douglas, Travis Douglas, Dustin Douglas, Brittany Hoff, and Courtney Christensen; and eight great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Hazel; daughter, Cheryl; son, Steve; grandson, Ray; great-granddaughter, Hazel; sister, Audrey Green; brothers: Maurice “Toby”, Gordon, and Jeffrey.
