Gary Dybdahl

Gary Arthur Dybdahl, the son of Arthur and Mildred (Peterson) Dybdahl, was born February 4, 1944 in Viborg, SD. He lived in Centerville, SD with his parents from the time he was born in 1944 until 1952. He then moved onto the farm east of Clinton, where he lived for the next 54 years until he and Jackie moved into Clinton in late summer of 2006.
Gary started his farming career in 1964 and continued until his death, if only in spirit during his later years. Gary attended Willmar Vo-Tech in 1976 – 77 where he graduated from the ag-business program. Upon graduating from Willmar he worked at Clinton Feed and Seed until he purchased it from Clarence Hauschild in 1985. In 1985, Gary started Clinton Ag Service which he has owned and operated until the present.
Gary has always been very devoted to his family, friends and customers. He worked very hard maintaining his business, whether it be on a Sunday afternoon or even a holiday. He was always more than happy and willing to do anything to help someone out. His calendar at work is noted with many birthdays of his family, friends and customers. He never wanted to miss an event, whether it be a wedding or a funeral. In the past year he had attended the wedding of the son of a long-time friend on a cruise ship, he also made it on the annual West Central, Inc. trip to Mexico in February where he celebrated his 65th birthday.
He enjoyed hosting the Clinton Ag Service Farm Show for many years. The show brought many farmers and community members to the Memorial Building in Clinton to check out the most recent agricultural tips of the trade. There was always a party to follow at the Sioux Historic Pavilion which was attended by many, where Sherwin Linton and his wife Pam would perform.
In addition to his love for his work, Gary loved country music, Johnny Cash being his favorite. His family will attest to that, remembering the many hours of Johnny they listened to while cruising Big Stone Lake on the pontoon. He attended many WeFest country music festivals as well. This was an event he looked forward to every summer.
Gary was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He always had a big smile when the grandchildren came to visit. He enjoyed giving them rides on his Gator and of course, buying them treats at the convenience store in town.
He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Jackie of Clinton, MN; mother, Mildred Dybdahl of Clinton, MN children, Todd (Bonnie) Dybdahl of Clinton, Dawn Dybdahl (friend Bob Itri) of Phoenix, AZ, Terry (Jill) Dybdahl of Morris, MN, Kellie (Scott) Hentges of Morris, MN; grandchildren, David (DJ) and Meghan Dybdahl; Brienna and Dane Dybdahl; Greta and Owen Hentges; sister, Sandra (Melvin) Roggenbuck of Aitkin, MN; brother-in-law, Dick Stotesbery (friend Sandy Arndt) of Ortonville; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father Art Dybdahl; sister, Joanne Stotesbery; grandparents, Josephine and Jacob Dybdahl, Addie and Oscar Peterson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack Otten and Helen Smith.
