Gary Bauer

Funeral Services for Gary ("Stub") Bauer, of Graceville, will be on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. Pastor Tom Fangmeier will be officiating. Visitation will be at the church Friday evening, October 28, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, with a 7:30 PM prayer service led by Father David Breu. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Casketbearers will be his nieces and nephews: Maxwell, Elizabeth, Jacob, and Samuel Bauer and Taryn, Taner, and Thomas Ward. Honorary Casketbearers are his Godson, Alex Bertram, and Gary's many special friends, too numerous to mention. Music will be provided by organist Deb Farwell, with singers Chris Weick, Deb Stueve, Jean Costello, and Sandi Bauer. There will be special music played by Jacob Bauer. Burial will be at a later date at Graceville Consolidated Cemetery.
Gary Thomas Bauer ("Stub") was born on October 2, 1960 in St. Paul, MN. On Dec. 22, 1960, he became the son of Thomas Lee and Rita Mae (Nosbusch) Bauer. He was baptized at the St. Paul Cathedral and confirmed at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Graceville High School in 1979.
During high school, Gary learned how to drive and became licensed to drive semi-trucks. Immediately following graduation he opened Bauer Trucking, a business he continued to operate his entire adulthood. During his career he drove through every continental state in the US! Gary also sold semi trailers and, from 1998 – 2006, owned and operated Stub's Pub in Graceville.
Gary thoroughly enjoyed driving and also found pleasure in hunting and fishing. Each year he joined his Odessa hunting buddies for an expedition. He also organized the "Annual Smoked Meat Cook-off" in the jail lot, which he owned. Even though it was a contest, a winner was never declared!
Gary's true passion was his family – he treasured his relationships with Becky, her children and grandchildren, his mother and siblings, and his nieces and nephews. He was fun-loving and quick witted. "That was GOOD humor!" was a favorite quote of his. He will be deeply missed.
Gary passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at his boyhood farmstead, having reached the age of 51 years.
Left to his loving memory are his mother; his brother, Charles (Carol) Bauer; his sister, Janet (Jay) Ward; his life partner of 12 years, Becky Fridgen; his daughters of heart: Stacy (Eric) Lantis and Heather (Jason) Henrich; grandchildren of heart: Cody and Brayden Lantis, Mackenzie Spaulding and Micah, Layne, and Jonas Henrich; nephews and nieces: Maxwell, Elizabeth, Jacob, and Samuel Bauer; and Taryn, Taner, and Thomas Ward; great nephew, Izzy Bauer; godson Alex Bertram; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Gary is preceded in death by his father.
