Frances Sester

Funeral Services for Frances Sester, age 98, of Ortonville, MN, will be on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. John's Catholic Church in Ortonville. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Father Robert Goblirsch will be officiating and burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Ortonville.

Frances Caroline Sester was born on November 4, 1913 in Fairfax, MN, the daughter of Harry and Julia (Jensen) Pullen. The family moved to Bird Island, MN, when she was young and Fran attended school in Bird Island, graduating in 1932.

On June 29, 1933, Fran was united in marriage to Rapheal John Sester. In October of 1943 they moved to Ortonville, MN and in 1955 they opened the doors to Hilltop Implement, selling Massey Ferguson and New Holland equipment. They retired in 1969, although Fran worked for many years at JoLee's Jewelry Store before fully retiring in 1986.

Fran was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, serving in the Funeral Circle for over 30 years. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and the "Alley Cats", which was the name of the neighborhood coffee klatch! Fran enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, cooking, and entertaining. Throughout the years she crocheted hundreds of caps and mittens for the homeless.

Frances died on April 26, 2012, at Northridge Residence, having reached the age of 98 years.

Cherishing her memory are her four daughters: Virginia Michels of Alexandria, MN; Kathleen (George) Morgan of Battle Lake, MN; Marilyn (David) Forbes of Marshall, MN; Patricia (Ken) Knudsen of Glenwood, MN; her two sons: Jim (Patricia) Sester of Ortonville; Dan (Tina) Sester of Mount Dora, FL; her son-in-law Alan Kump of Redington Shores, FL; 17 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; and her brother, Gorden Pullen of Peoria, IL.

Fran is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; her daughter, JoAnn Kump; her son-in-law, Joe Michels; one infant granddaughter; one infant brother and sister; and her sister-in-law, Marge Pullen.
