Erma, her parents, and two brothers moved to rural Clinton, MN in March of 1911. Erma attended school in District #6, Prior Township, graduating from eighth grade in 1917. Due to illness of her mother, she only attended one year at Clinton High School.
On February 08, 1933, Erma was united in marriage to Robert L. Wells at Erma's parents' home in Prior Township. Reverend Charles Wittrup performed the ceremony. To this union three sons and one daughter were born. Randall, Arnold, Norman "Pete",and Lenora.
Erma was baptized and became a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church in 1924. She was a member of the Methodist Women and also a member of the Malta-Clinton Women's Temperance Union. Robert and Erma farmed the home place in Prior Township for many years, moving to Clinton the fall of 1965. While living on the farm Erma?s mother made her home with them for over ten years.
Erma was a very independent person. She had always wanted to live in her own home until she was 98 years old, this she did. Due to a fall on August 03, 2002, Erma went to the Grace Home in Graceville, MN where she resided until her death. Erma thoroughly enjoyed living at Grace Home. She made many great friends there. Erma continued doing her work of folding towels and cutting of envelopes until about 2-1/2 weeks ago. She loved to keep busy. One of Erma's desires was to celebrate her 100th birthday, which she did on July 19th! Erma loved having family and friends visit. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and crafts.
