Emma Marie Wilhelmina Tober was born to parents, Jacob and Alvina (Witt) Tober in Roberts County, South Dakota, on May 21, 1911. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Church in Roberts County. Emma married Abel Eastman on March 15, 1934, in Milbank, South Dakota. They lived on a farm in Foster Township.
In 1956, Emma started baking and decorating wedding and anniversary cakes. She kept track of “only the big ones”, and made her 999th cake for grandson Ward’s wedding in 1999 shortly before her 88th birthday. All of Emma’s family members have been recipients of her quilts, crocheted afghans and doilies, and embroidered pieces. She loved children and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Emma passed away on June 19, 2010, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Minnetonka, Minnesota, her home for nearly three years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Abel, her son Jerome and two sons-in-law, Alvin Chapman and Wally Blomquist. She is preceded in death by siblings Ernest, Otto and Fred Tober, Bertha Guethling, Tolly Nickolauson, Hilda Serocki, Dorothy Bruss, and Agnes May.
She is survived by brothers-in-law Arthur Bruss and Stanley Serocki; daughters Elaine Blomquist and Karen Chapman; son Dean (Shirley) Eastman; five grandchildren: Kathy Blomquist, Ward (Lori) Blomquist, Vicki Blomquist, Kelly (Mark) Holsclaw, and John (Sara) Chapman; nine great grandchildren: Nicole Fulton; Wyatt, Lukas and Emma Blomquist; Nicholas, Ashton and Langdon Holsclaw; Abigayle and Kailey Chapman; and many other relatives and friends.
