Emery Shea

Emery Francis Shea was born on September 22, 1924 to parents Raphael “Emmit” and Mary (Hogan) Shea on a farm by Fulda, MN. Emery went to his first year of school at the convent and from second grade on attended District #59 school in Murray County, graduating with the class of 1938. He worked on the farm growing up and also for different neighbors when they needed help.
Emery was united in marriage to Agnes Eleanor Weinzetl on June 6, 1945 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Currie, MN by Father Davey. To this union, they were blessed with seven children: Mary, Patricia, Elizabeth, Joan, Cecilia, Henry and Agnes Ann. They settled near Fulda, MN, then moved to Slayton, MN, and then back to Fulda. They moved to Elbow Lake where they resided for seven years. In 1956, they moved to a farm north of Chokio for three years before moving south of Chokio; in 1968, they moved southwest of Chokio where they remained until 2004 when they moved into the Grandview Apartments in Morris, MN.
During his life, Emery held several jobs, including: a farmer, laborer, worked on the ice during the 1950’s for a few winters cutting ice blcks to be shipped out on railroad cars. Also, he worked in the Chokio Meat Locker for a few years and then the Morris Meat Locker for five years. He worked for Alan Larson Building Movers in Clinton until retirement. During retirement, Emery worked for Ray Keeler, Wally Wulff and Jim Hagen on their farms.
Emery loved to spend time with his family and to visit with friends. He had a strong faith. Emery was a special husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He thought very highly of his family as they did of him. He enjoyed collecting and repairing old toys, particularly tractors. Emery loved auction sales and collecting fancy glassware.
Emery died on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Grace Home in Graceville, MN. He had lived to reach the age of 86 years.
Emery is survived by his wife of 65 years, Agnes of Graceville; son Henry (Margarita) Shea of San Diego, CA; daughters: Mary (Steve) Shea-Kodluboy of St. Paul, MN, Patricia (Gary) Mahre of St. Paul, MN, Elizabeth (Richard) Ryan of St. Louis Park, MN, Joan Zimbrick of Lindstrom, MN, Cecilia (Lloyd) Kill of Morris, MN and Ann Shea of Oxford, OH; grandchildren: Jeremiah Kill, Kathleen Jipson, William Jipson, Joseph Ryan, Israel Zimbrick, Joshua Zimbrick, Jason Zimbrick, Molly Zimbrick, Noel Dominguez and Monique Allen; 6 great-grandchildren: Tajara Kill, Trenity Kill, Talia Kill, Montgomery Zimbrick, Kaden Zimbrick, and Levi Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Emery is preceded in death by his parents: Emmit and Mary; sister Leonessa Olesson, twin brother Ambrose, brother, Duane; grand-daughter-in-law Kolleen Kill and nieces and nephews.
