Elsie Hermione (Graumann) Mattson, the daughter of Herman and Louise (Weber) Graumann was born September 4, 1915 south of Beardsley, MN on the family farm. She attended school in Beardsley through the eighth grade. She then stayed home and helped her father on the farm and her mother with her brothers and sisters.
Elsie was united in marriage to Harvey Vernet Mattson in Minneapolis MN. They made their home north of Browns Valley where they started farming. They moved north of Graceville, MN and farmed with Elsie’s brother until 1951 they moved to Johnson, MN where Harvey worked at the Farmers Elevator. They were blessed with six children four girls and two boys.
She babysat for children in the area all during her life and was known as grandma to many children. She also worked at Fingerhut in Morris, MN, Carlson Cafe in Graceville, MN and Larson’s Grocery in Johnson. She took in mending and enjoyed sewing. She loved to read and she gardened vegetables and flowers.
She is survived by her children, Jean (Rodney) Johnson of Aurora, IL, David (Margaret) Mattson of Johnson, MN, John (Marion) Mattson of St. Paul, MN, Vivian Pring of Chokio, MN and Ruth (Gerald) Kornmann of Sebring, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Elmer (Ursula) Graumann; 1 son-in-law Ralph Fuechtmann of Fridley, MN;1 brother-in-law, Clarence Martins of Beardsley, MN.
She is prceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey; daughter, Karen Fuechtmann; 2 sisters, Helen (Gordon) Baxter and Dorothy; 2 brothers, Otto Graumann, Harvey (Donna) Graumann
