Memorial services for Mrs. Elsie J. Carlson, age 90, of Milbank, will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the LaBolt Covenant Church in LaBolt, SD. Pastor Mark Chapman will officiate. Elsie died on Sunday, August 26, 2007, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Music will be presented by Verla Peterson, pianist, and Paul D. Peterson, soloist. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Disposition of her cremains will be private. Family members are asked to meet in the church basement by 10:00 a.m. Thursday to attend services. THE EMANUEL-PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME OF MILBANK IS IN CHARGE OF THE ARRANGEMENTS.
Elsie was born on May 3, 1917, in Kandiyohi County,, rural Willmar, MN, the daughter of Elmer and Anna (Pearson) Anderson. She moved with her parents to Chicago in 1924. While living in Chicago, she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Fred A.Peterson on October 23, 1937. Fred died on October 8, 1966. Elsie married Clarence L. Carlson on March 16, 1968, in Chicago. Following their retirement, the couple moved to Madison Township, Grant County, SD, where they built a home. They resided there until 1992 when they moved to Milbank. Clarence died on November 26, 2000. Elsie continued to live in their home until moving to Park Place in Milbank in 2005.
She was a member of the LaBolt Covenant Church in LaBolt, SD, and the Stockholm-Strandburg American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post #171. Elsie enjoyed bowling, golfing, and dancing.
Elsie is survived by her stepdaughter Janet Domian and husband Tom, Chicago, IL., two grandchildren, Tommy and Lisa Marie Domian, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and one brother, Victor Anderson.
