Jeanne passed away peacefully on February 19, 2018, at the Trails of Orono in Wayzata, MN.
Eleanor “Jeanne” Berg was born on November 17, 1928. She was the daughter of Clarence and Karna (Breeton) Clay. After graduating from Bemidji High School in 1946, Jeanne was employed by Northwest Bell Telephone Company. She married the guy next door and the love of her life, Ken, on June 25, 1947.
Ken was transferred to Ortonville with Otter Tail Power Company shortly after. Jeanne loved kids and had an in-home daycare for several years while being a stay-at-home mom. Upon retirement, Jeanne and Ken moved to Cass Lake, MN, to be near their families. After 14 years, they returned to Ortonville to be surrounded by their many Otter Tail friends and the church community that they had missed. During her retirement, Jeanne became known as the “muffin lady”. She enjoyed baking, entertaining and sharing her goodies with friends new and old. She was also a volunteer at the hospital and a member of the garden club. Jeanne will be remembered most for her beautiful and always present smile, her contagious laugh, sense of humor and her loving spirit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Karna Clay; and her loving husband of 64 years, Ken Berg.
Jeanne is survived by two daughters: Kathy Russell (Larry); Karla Arne (Jerry); 3 grandchildren: Jerry Arne (Erica), Allison Engelsma (Brad), Lindsay Beltchenko (Neil); 3 great grandchildren, Gus and Logan Arne and Mason Engelsma; brother, George Clay (LaVonne), sister, Carol Kludt (Herb).
Memorials are preferred to Big Stone Camp for Christ.
