Edward Heck

Edward R. Heck, age 89, of Graceville, MN, who died January 23, 2018, at the Browns Valley Health Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville.  Father Brian Oestreich will celebrate the Mass.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Beardsley.  Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 5 -7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, one hour prior to Mass at the church.

Edward Robert Heck was born on September 30, 1928, in Graceville, MN.  He was the son of John and Anna (Ehrnst) Heck.  He was baptized into the Catholic faith at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Beardsley and was confirmed at St. Barnabas.  Edward attended school through the eighth grade. He then started farming with his father. He enlisted in the Army on March 19, 1952 and was honorably discharged on March 2, 1954. After his service in the Army, he returned home to resume farming with his brother, Tom. In 1995, he retired from farming and eventually moved to Graceville in 2011.

Edward was always active on the farm, taking care of his livestock and especially enjoyed his cats! He also kept a large garden and could often be found taking a drive to check the crops! He enjoyed playing cards and having a beer at the end of the day. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Farmer’s Union.

Edward is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Anna; siblings: Joe Heck, Bart Heck, John Heck, Richard Heck, Thomas Heck, Theresa DiBrito; and an infant brother, Bernard.
