Duane Johnson

Duane Darrell Johnson was born on November 1, 1942, in Graceville, MN, to parents, Abel and Anna (Shroeder) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at the Elim Lutheran Church in Clinton, MN. As a young boy, Duane attended school in Clinton, MN, graduating with the class of 1960.



Following his graduation, Duane enlisted in the United States Navy on June 30, 1961. During his time in the service he was stationed on the USS Rushmore where he earned the rank of Able Seaman. On July 27, 1965, Duane was honorably discharged from the Navy.



Following his discharge, Duane returned to Minnesota and made Ortonville, MN, his home. On august 2, 1969, Duane was united in marriage to Judy Longhenry. The couple was blessed with three children, Stan, Paula, and Tony.



In his spare time, Duane enjoyed hunting and treasured the memories made during hunting excursions with family and friends. He also love the quiet time spent on the shores of Big Stone Lake fishing. Family was very important to Duane and he cherished time spent with all of his family and especially his children. Duane was very proud of his service to his country by serving in the Navy and he was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN.



Duane passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2006, as result of a motor vehicle accident south of Milbank, SD, he had reached the age of 64 years old. Duane is preceded in death by his parents, Abel and Anna Johnson, his maternal and paternal grandparents, and father-in-law, Ervin Longhenry.



Duane will be remembered by his wife, Judy Johnson of Ortonville, MN; children, Stan Johnson of Ortonville, MN; Paula Johnson of Ortonville, MN; and Tony Johnson of Ortonville, MN; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
