Douglas Rollins III, age 64 of Milbank passed away November 4, 2013, in his home.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 11, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Milbank. Rev. Marion Paulis will officiate.
Visitation will be at Mundwiler Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 – 7 p.m.
Douglas Rollins III was born on September 1, 1949, in Dover, New Hampshire to Douglas and Helen (Eitel) Rollins II. He attended Berwick Academy in South Berwick, Maine. Doug held a BA in History from the University of Pennsylvania and also a BA in Education from the University of Minnesota.
Doug worked for Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. He traveled throughout the west until he moved to Minneapolis to work for Soo Line Railroad. There he met Euretta "Buzzi" Jacobs and on February 21, 1981, they were united in marriage. To this union three children were born. In 1995 they moved to Milbank, South Dakota. He retired from the railroad in 2009.
Doug was a life long Episcopalian and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Milbank. He was a dreamer and had his hands in all types of endeavors. Doug was an avid reader and a devoted NPR listener. He was a railroad fan and followed Twins baseball. Most important to him were his family and his dogs.
Douglas Rollins III is survived by his wife, Euretta "Buzzi" Rollins of Milbank, SD; one daughter, Catherine Rollins and fiance Kenneth Abbe, both of Sioux Falls, SD; two sons: Douglas Rollins IV of Sioux Falls, SD; Phillip Rollins of Watertown, SD; two brothers: Paul (Carla) Rollins of York, ME; John (Susan) Rollins of Seattle, WA; three sisters: Helen Rollins of York Harbor, ME; Sandy (Gordon) Upton of Jamaica Plain, MA; Elizabeth (Frank) Mauran of Providence, RI; uncle, Paul (Marilyn) Eitel of Hilton Head, SC; mother-in-law, Gretta Jacobs of Bowler, WI; three sisters-in-law: Rosella Schaaf of Bowler, WI; Nelda Jacobs of Bowler, WI; Ilona Zimmerman of Green Bay, WI; three brothers-in-law: Clyde (Betsy) Jacobs of Faribault, MN; Neil (Claudia) Jacobs of Shawano, WI; Gearold (Vickie) Jacobs of Amery, WI; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
