Dorothy M. Kleindl of Graceville, Minnesota departed this life on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 2:30 a.m. in Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be Tuesday April 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father David Breu officiating. Burial will be in the Graceville Cemetery, Graceville, MN. Visitation is Monday, April 25, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Church. There is also visitation one hour prior to the service.
Dorothy Kleindl was born on April 1st, 1932 at the Graceville Hospital, daughter of Walter and Rose (Goodhart) Murray. She was raised on a farm by Barry, MN than moved to a farm in Tara Township on a farm 5 ½ miles northwest of Graceville. She attended a country school than after sixth grade went to St. Mary's Academy. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.
Dorothy married John H. Kleindl on September 6, 1950 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Collis, MN. They farmed 4 miles west of Graceville until their retirement than moved into Graceville. They were members of the St. Barnabas Catholic Church until it closed and then belonged to the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Dorothy cooked for the Head start program and then cooked four years for the Graceville Public School and then 28 years for the Senior Citizen Center. She ended up leaving her job to stay at home to take care for her husband John who had a stroke.
She was also known for doing all the wake suppers for anyone in the community.
Her family was her pride and the joy of her life. She was the special one who had all the picnics and family reunions, where her love for her family was expressed in many ways. She taught us all that you have to work hard in order to earn and get what you want out of life. Each and everyone were touched by her life with love, understanding and many words of wisdom.
She is survived by her children, Elaine (Don) Johnsrud, Jack (Carol) Kleindl, Greg (Luann) Kleindl, Jean (Terry) Hoppe, Tom (Jan) Kleindl, Larry (Natalie)Kleindl, Debbie (Duane) Richardson; grandchildren, Laurie (Kirk) Kossan, Kevin (Jill) Johnsrud, Shelly (Torey) Issendorf, Tammy (Todd) Hale, Theresa (Tom) Moore, John (Stephanie) Kleindl, Melissa (Cory) Kranz, Sally (Andy) Nelson, Jacob (Danielle) Kleindl, Eric (Melissa) Kleindl, Chrissy Wills, Danny Kleindl, Jeff Hoppe, Corey Hoppe, Travis (Tiffany) Hoppe, Chad Hoppe, Nicholas Kleindl, Nathan Kleindl, Brittany Kleindl, Kimberly (Lee) Sigler, Kerrie (Ryan) Berg, Kayla Fuhrman, Brooke and Gracie; 31 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Anderson;sisters in law: Patsy Murray, Shirley Murray, Theresa (Ron) Pedersdorf, Margaret Billiet, Dorothy A. Kleindl, Margaret Kirkey; brothers in law Robert Fossen, Lawerence Kleindl and Francis Kleindl; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded by her husband, John H. Kleindl and infant son. Parents Walter and Rose Murray, Two brothers: Donald Murray and Vernon Murray, One Sister: Betty Fossen, Great Grandson: Rylan Hoppe and three baby cherubs.
