Dorothy Davis

Dorothy Evangeline Davis the daughter of Marion and Maude (Hart) Holsworth was born in August 19, 1923 in Forbes, North Dakota, the first of eleven children.

On May 1, 1930 Dorothy married Warren K. Davis of Ellendale, North Dakota. This union brought nine children. Plus in the later years, the fostering of Dorothy’s younger sisters and brothers and the five Lenards boys, Bert, John, Clarence, Dave, and Albert.

Warren and Dorothy farmed in South Dakota for about 16 years, until health problems forced them to change occupations. They moved their family to Rapid City, South Dakota in about 1953, Where they bought a home in Cleghorn Canyon.

For six years they ran a “used furniture” store named “Fudge’s” in Rapid City, South Dakota. When their children were grown they moved into Rapid City where Warren went to work at a local grain mill and Dorothy worked at the Salvation Army until they retired. They moved out to Brownsville, South Dakota for several years enjoying the country life. When that became to remote they decided to move to Piedmont, South Dakota where they took a job cleaning a large restaurant/lounge in their retirement years, until health caused them to finally give up and really retire. They moved to Clinton, Minnesota in June of 2008.

Dorothy passed on into eternity on November 11, 2008 at the Ortonville Hospital, Ortonville, Minnesota.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Warren who resides at the Clinton Care Center and nine children, Clifford (Carrie) of Blaine, MN, Delores (Clarence) Lenards of Rapid City , SD, Orrin (Charlotte) Davis of Alpine, CA, Gerald (Pam) Davis of Clinton, MN, Eugene (Marlene) Davis of Rapid City, SD, Robert (Mary) Davis of Keystone, SD, Terry (Debbie) Davis of Cambridge, MN, Darlene (Richard) Brewer of Rapis City, SD and Roy Davis of East Bethel, MN; 27 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; brothers Gilbert (Darlene) Holsworth, Rapid City, SD, Donald Hosworth of Hermosa, SD; sisters, Irene Ford Omaha NE, Sarah (Virgil) Dewald of Forbes, ND, Peggy Schock of Ashley, ND; sisters-in-law, Irene Holsworth of Rapid City, SD, Gloria Holsworth of Ssturgis, SD, and Darla Holsworth of Rapid City, SD.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Marion in 1971 and Maude in 1977, seven siblings Junior in 1985, Alfred in 1991, Molly in 1998, Duane in 2001, and Delbert in 2004.
