Doris Redford

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 9, at First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Doris Larson Redford was born December 3, 1931 near Sioux City, IA. She died October 27, 2013 at Northridge Residence in Ortonville, MN at the age of 81.

Doris attended Big Springs rural school and graduated from Alcester High School. She married Leo Larson July 2, 1952. The couple lived and farmed in the Big Springs area until 1973 when Leo died and Doris moved into Alcester. She was employed at Otis Radio in Hawarden, IA for many years. She married Dennis Redford October 12, 1974 and moved to Big Stone City, SD where she worked at a canning factory and drove truck with her husband. Doris moved to Northridge Residence in 2010 and has resided there until the present time.

Doris was an active member of Union Creek Lutheran Church when she lived near Alcester and was currently a member of First English Lutheran Church in Ortonville, MN.

Doris would often plant a large garden and enjoyed canning the vegetables it would produce. She was also very fond of her dogs. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family as she loved them very much.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leo Larson; her mother, Clara Sorlie; and a son-in-law, Don Van Buskirk.

She is survived by her husband Dennis Redford of Big Stone City, SD; 4 children: Blake (Roxanne) Larson, Akron, IA; Rhonda Van Buskirk, Columbus, NE; Marlene(Jerry) Wetrosky, Alcester, SD; and Leasa Larson, Fergus Falls, MN; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
